Peter Rickards Photography is a leading Toowoomba based photographic studio with a small team of very talented and passionate photographers.

Pregnancy is such a beautiful time in a woman's life - we want your photos to reflect the emotion and anticipation of that little life developing and growing inside of you.  Then after your precious baby is born your photos will be treasured for generations to come.

NEWBORN PHOTO SESSION: Newborns are best photographed in the studio within the first week or two as they are generally still sleepy and easily positioned.  They are easily curled into really cute positions creating gorgeous newborn photos. After this age your baby generally doesn't settle as easily and in more sensitive to touch.

For best results, phone ahead at least 6 - 8 weeks before your due date to make a tentative booking.  After the birth contact us as soon as possible and we can confirm or change that booking to fit in with your new little bub.

Newborn photos sessions usually last at least a couple of hours allowing for settling, feeds etc.  Unlike some studios, we include parents and siblings at no extra charge.  We have some props here, but your are welcome to bring along special sentiments if you wish to include them.  These sessions are relaxed and intimate, and are all about your beautiful baby. 

The photography session is the perfect time to sit back and relax.  My studio has beautifully comfy reclining chairs near your baby so you can relax with them in view.

MATERNITY PHOTO SESSION: Maternity sessions are best done in the last trimester of your pregnancy, between 30-36 weeks (before your tummy drops)  We can use the privacy of our studio or any of the beautiful outdoor parks, farms, etc that we frequently use.  We also have a very nice outdoor setting in our private back yard. Maternity sessions usually last about an hour and siblings and partners are most welcome to be involved.  Studio sessions can be done at anytime of the day, but the preference for outdoor sessions is late afternoon to ensure the most flattering lighting conditions.

AFTER THE PHOTO SESSIONS: All images will be edited in both colour and black & white then uploaded onto our password protected gallery.  They will be lo-res and watermarked from which you can view and choose your included 10 high resolution digital files.  You can also decide if you'd like to make additional purchases of hi-res digital files or prints or canvas prints.

Families are placing a high importance on having photos of their children and loved ones to treasure for generations to come.  Our aim is to make your photo session fun and natural - we have a style that relaxes even the most anxious family.  Not everyone is comfortable in front of the camera but we understand how you feel and our easy going nature and fun approach will put you at ease.   

YOUR HOME or OUTDOORS: The outdoors is where families feel most comfortable.  We are so lucky in Toowoomba with an endless number of parks plus we have some private farms that we regularly use.  But if you'd like to use your home and garden then that is fine as well.

WHAT TO WEAR: Any colours of clothing can work well in photographs, it all depends on what you prefer and what suits your family.  A little bit of colour goes a long way and adds personality to your photos, but having said that, jeans and white shirts still looks great.  My advice is to make the colours compliment each other if you can, rather than have them clash.  Busy prints, bold strips pictures are usually best to avoid. You are welcome to bring one outfit change to have a different look to your photos.

AFTER THE PHOTO SESSION: All photos will be edited to maximise exposure, colour correction, contrast etc.  If you've chosen the Mini Session, the photos will be uploaded onto our password protected gallery from which you can view and choose your included 10 high resolution digital files.  Once you've made your selection, your photos will be copied to USB or dropbox to you as hi-res digital JPEG files.  If you've chosen the Full Session, your photos will be copied to USB or dropbox to you as hi-res digital JPEG files.
